As a final year student I felt I still lacked experience and wanted to make the most of the time I had left in Sheffield. This remote placement was the perfect opportunity during the covid epidemic.

The application process consisted of a cv/cover letter submission and a quick video interview.
The primary objective of this project is to explore the prospective student engagement methods utilized by the Department of Music competitors.
I was given freedom in my working patterns and made agreements about the amount of hours I was able to do. A typical day involved me conducting research by attending virtual open days or exploring music department websites. Or alternatively writing reports and making recommendation based on my findings.
The chance to examine how different universities were adapting to the pandemic and the limitations it brought. The freedom and flexibility given to me also made the placement more enjoyable as I didn't have to complete rigid and specific tasks. Thanks to this I was using my judgement to assess the importance and relevance of my findings.
Managing my time and finding the motivation to work from home was difficult. However thanks to arrangements I made with my supervisors I managed to compete the placement and my final year exams without any issues.
I used analytical and research skills I developed in both sides of my course. Critical thinking and communication were key.
There are plenty of opportunities out there you just need to keep looking. Don't let failure discourage you its an inevitable part of success.
Prepare for your interview:
