About the placement/internship

Why did you decide to do a placement/internship?

I decided to do this placement for my lack of work experience. I also believed in the great work the charity does and I felt I could learn and have a great impact.

How did you find your placement/internship?

Through family or friends

Application process

Following a brief call, I had an interview and after the interview I was given a place.

What made you choose this organisation for your placement/internship?

I really believe in the great work they do and I wanted to experience how a charitable organization is run in comparison to a limited company.

Main responsibilities

I had a range of responsibilities including working with the children, presenting workshops designed by the charity. I also worked with all departments including operations and management helping them with their workload.

Typical day

A typical day would involve working with the children in the morning to moving onto paper/funding bids/ presentation planning in the evening.

What did I enjoy about my placement/internship?

I really enjoyed working with children. Although they were challenging, I really learned a lot about myself.

Challenging aspects

The work was relatively easy however the diverse range of behaviours was hard to deal with.

Did you use any skills learned from your course?

Yes, I learned how to use my attention to detail skills when reading cases

Has your time on placement influenced your future career choice?

No

As a result of your placement/internship, what are your next steps in planning what you want to do after graduation?

I will look for a graduate scheme position.
