Why did you decide to do a placement/internship?

To attempt to finish an international collaboration between out two research groups.

Application process

Informal. My hosts were extremely welcoming and accommodating.

Main responsibilities

Preform research while attending postgraduate courses held by the department of Chemistry.

Typical day

Morning coffee (8am), Research or lectures in the morning (interspersed by 10am coffee). spot of lunch then data analysis and reading in the afternoon (with coffee at 3 pm).

What did I enjoy about my placement/internship?

A sense of community spirit within the department.

The opportunity to learn from some of the experts in my field.

Did you use any skills learned from your course?

Yes. As the research that I am involved with in Sheffield closely overlaps with my activities in Lund, almost all of the skills that I have developed were used and built upon.

Has your time on placement influenced your future career choice?

For a long time I have aspired to carry out post doctoral work in a foreign institution. This placement has cemented that ambition.
