The application process was really simple. I applied for the position through the Careers Service web site (Career Connect) where the position was advertised. I emailed my CV to an email contact and the next day I had an invitation for an interview.

Main responsibilities

As Social Media Advisor, I was responsible for reviewing current guidance to students who successfully bid for places, developing enhanced guidance, and monitoring and supporting the use of social media by the students when on PAS internships and participating in GLOSS events in order to ensure that the students on the scheme use social media effectively to promote their experience. What did I enjoy about my placement?

My internship at Experience has taught me more than I could have imagined. As the Social Media advisor, I feel my duties were diverse, and ever-changing. Sometimes it’s tough to recall everything I have taken in over the past months, but I feel that these are some of the most beneficial lessons I have learned.

Challenging aspects

I didn’t know exactly what to expect about the working environment. The environment was quite relaxed, yet it taught me how to behave in the workplace. Simply working in the office and getting used to everything has definitely prepared me for whatever my next position may be.

As I was studying Business Management I had lots of opportunities to practice strategy, planning and communication skills. Working at the Faculty of Social Sciences meant that I was able to develop my written skills as well as build on my design skills. I was hoping to gain a good understanding of where my degree could take me and I think I have definitely achieved that.
